The C's beat Canton by a touchdown, 12-6. The D's split their games, with the Sharon D2 squad scoring once to down the Canton D2's, 7-0. Sharon D Eagles Soar at Gillette Stadium Halftime Scrimmage

Thanks to the efforts of Patriots Executive Director of Community Affairs, Andre Tippett, as well as coaches and managers from Sharon Pop Warner, the Sharon "D" Eagles squads faced off in an 8 minute scrimmage at halftime of the Patriots-Eagles preseason game at Gillette Stadium last night. The kids watched warm-ups and stood for the National Anthem on the field and took in the game from the stands as well. The event was part of a USA Football national campaign to celebrate youth football. Click here for photos.

Alternate Football Equipment Pick-Up Times
For those who were unable to attend their regular pickup time, there is an alternate equipment pickup scheduled for Tuesday, July 29 from 4:30-6pm at the Horizon's for Youth Complex on Lakeview. Football equipment (helmets, shoulder pads, and practice and game jerseys and pants with pads) can be picked up then. No equipment will be issued unless all the forms — medical forms, report cards and original birth certificates for new players — have been turned in to Maggie Friedman prior to pick-up. Horizon's for Youth Complex is located on Lakeview St. (rear of main building). NO PARKING ON LAWN or IN CIRCULAR DRIVE. Use lots next door and across street near lake at old Rec. Office Building. Our new location, on the upside, provides for a more efficient equipment organization. On the downside, please be prepared to wait outside the rear door for your player's turn to get equipment. It will be first come, first served.

SPW Paperwork Due
This is a reminder that all remaining paperwork (medical forms, report cards and original birth certificates) are due to the registrar by July 1st. In order to make this process easier, we have scheduled a Paperwork Night on Wednesday June 25th from 7-9pm at the Community Center. Please make arrangements to bring all missing paperwork to Paperwork Night. If you are unable to attend Paperwork Night, please mail all remaining paperwork to Maggie Friedman, 6 Abbott Avenue, Sharon, MA 02067 before July 1st. Remember, the medical form policy is new this year. Doctors must complete the appropriate form (Form G under Registration/Forms). If your doctor refuses to complete this form, the doctor's own form may be used if it is signed and dated after 1/1/08 and contains the specific statement "[Child's Name] is physically fit and able to participate in Pop Warner during the 2008 season." If the Pop Warner form is not used, and the doctor's own form does not contain this specific statement the child will not be able to participate in Pop Warner.

SPW Registration Dropped to $56 to Honor Tippett

This is the Sharon Pop Warner "Hall of Fame" Season, in honor of Coach Andre Tippett's induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. For this year only, the registration fee for every player or cheerleader is only $56 (from $150)! Fifty-six, of course, was Andre's number with the New England Patriots. Please bring all your forms (from the registration section) to SPW Registration at the Sharon Community Center, on April 10 or 15 from 6-8pm to complete your child’s registration. If you are unable to attend, please mail registration forms by April 15th to Maggie Friedman, Pop Warner Registration, 6 Abbott Avenue, Sharon, MA 02067. Registrations will not be processed unless forms A through F at a minumum have been submitted.

Registration Just Got a Whole Lot Easier
Not only is playing and cheering for football going to be a whole lot easier on the checkbook this season (thanks, Andre!), registration is simpler, too. Just download the multi-page registration document, open the forms in your browser or PDF viewer program, and fill out the form on your desktop. For families with siblings, once you've printed one kid's forms, all you have to do is change the fields that need changing and print again. Simple.

Fundraising: The More You Sell, the More You Get
No calendars this year, folks. We're selling raffle tickets (winning ticket gets $100 each home game). After you sell your initial $50 worth of tickets, for every additional $50 of tickets sold, SPW will give you a $10 Gift Card to either The Game Stop, Olympia Aports or Claire's. There's no limit to how much you can earn. Sell $200 in raffle tix and get $40 in gift cards! And, there will be a special prize for the top 3 sellers. Details here.

Safety, Education a Priority with Pop Warner
Pop Warner works very hard to ensure that its "Little Scholars" enjoy the game of football in as safe an environment as possible. Sharon Pop Warner has assembled some information concerning youth football and safety. You can find them in our FAQ section as well as our Cool Links section.

Mandatory weigh-ins for kids interested in playing Pop Warner football this fall will be held August 23, with a second weigh-in scheduled for September 6th (location and time, TBA). Those observing the Sabbath can attend a special weigh-in on Thursday, August 21st (location and time, TBA).

Sharon's Andre Tippett Ends Up in Canton

Neighbor, friend, Pop Warner coach and current Patriots Director of Community Affairs is now a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The great former Pats linebacker will be heading to Canton (Ohio) along with WR Art Monk, CB Darrell Green, DE Fred Dean, OT Gary Zimmerman and CB Emmitt Thomas for induction ceremonies on August 2, 2008. Sharon A's Fall to Stoughton in Playoffs; Mites Mighty in First Munchkin Bowl
After securing the best record in a new, tougher Division 1, the Eagle A's couldn't match the intensity of the Stoughton Raiders, losing 24-6 in the second round of the Hockomock League Championship at the Sharon Middle School this Sunday. The A's finished the season with only two losses and are poised for many years of success at the high school level. Congratulations to "Bucky" Cohen and all the players and coaches for a tremendous run of playoff seasons. Thanks to the cheerleaders as well for their support. A huge thanks to A's team manager Janice Dubois-Katz for keeping the books straight, the camera focused and the volunteers prepared all year... In the first-ever Munchkin Bowl this weekend, the Sharon Mites played their best game of the season against Foxboro. The intensity was high and the hits were hard as the Eagle Mites finished strong and left happy following their exciting and physical play in Foxboro. Many thanks and congratulations to Evan Banks, coaches, players and parents for an extremely successful and fun football season. And a big hand to team manager Deborah Bayha for all her hard work and dedication to the kids.
